Vatican Museums are the most important museums of the Christian world and the second in Europe for numbers of visitors after Louvre in Paris.

Vatican Museums are the most eminent representation of art collections collected  by all popes throughout the centuries, including some of the most renowned classical sculptures and masterpieces of the Renaissance. Indeed here you can admire the pieces of art such as  the Laocoon and His Sons, the Apoximenos, the famous Torso and so on.

Starting with a pleasant stroll through Pinecone’s Courtyard (Cortile della Pigna) and the Pio Clementinum Museum (Greek and Roman antiquities), we  reach, walking through numerous Galleries, the Sistine Chapel where we admire the divine and marvelous frescoes by Michelangelo Buonarroti. Afterwards, we  discover the St. Peter Basilica, which was rebuilt above the final resting place of St. Peter in 1506 by Pope Julius II. Renaissance and Baroque Rome rose with it, and the city became as glorious as the city of the Caesars. It’s worth a visit, and once inside you will feel overwhelmed by its size. The tour will finish in St. Peter’s Square, the gigantic and splendid baroque square which all the world envies us. This real majestic architectural wonder is a gigantic work of art and engineering and, according to Bernini, symbolizes an embrace to whole Christianity.

This itinerary includes: the Vatican Gallery ( Transfiguration by Raffael, Deposition by Caravaggio, St. Gerolamo by Leonardo da Vinci, St. Peter by Guido Reni and others famous painters ), Pinecone’s Courtyard, Octagonal Courtyard, ( “Apollo Belvedere” and “Laoocon”, Room of the Animals (the marble “zoo”), Room of the Muses (Belvedere Torso), Round Room, Greek Cross Room, the Gallery of Candlesticks/the  Gallery of Tapestries/ the Gallery of Geographical Maps, the Raphael Rooms, the Borgia Apartments, the SISTINE CHAPEL, the  Royal Staircase, St. Peter’s Basilica and  St. Peter’s Square.
